GTW Gear Hybrid IFAK Gen. 4
The fourth generation of the flagship Hybrid IFAK, which is the result of two years of testing and feedback from many users of previous first aid kits.
The latest version of the product coincides with the earlier design: here we find a two-part construction based on a platform-mounted sleeve and an insert with the possibility of both sides being yanked out, a cut-out medical crossbody with interchangeable colour inserts or a well-thought-out, well-organised interior. When looked at more closely, however, the fourth-generation IFAK is a more modern, lighter and more user-specific first aid kit.
Both the sleeve and the liner have changed; in this model the sleeve is made from a combination of laminate cordura and elastic stretch fabric. To minimise the risk of rapid wear and fraying of the fabric, the edges of the sleeve have been rolled inwards, which also gives rigidity to the whole construction.
The top features PALS notches, which allow for the fitting of an additional stasis pocket or other accessories such as the TQ PALS Holder.
On the front of the sleeve is a large Velcro with a cross-cut. A double-sided insert is included, with which it was possible to obtain as many as three colours of the cross to choose from: red, reflective, and when the insert is removed, the colour corresponds to the colour of the first aid kit.
The holding power of the cartridge is adjusted by a flexible shockcord, located at the bottom.
The fourth generation of the first aid kit uses a new mounting system. IFAK can be mounted both in the traditional PALS system, but thanks to the use of additional notches it is possible to mount it stably on popular belts with narrowed cell widths and on belts of different widths. Two sections of double-sided Velcro hammere further stabilise the first aid kit when mounted directly on the belt.
The liner is made entirely of cordura and closes with a two-way YKK lock. A significant change is the replacement of the handles made of laminate in previous generations with paracord, which is much more resistant to abrasion and fraying, and can be easily replaced if damaged.
The front panel is devoid of any elements that might impede the insertion of the insert into the sleeve. The back is edged with a large piece of Velcro, allowing additional pockets to be attached, for example scissor holder.
To ensure maximum quick access to content, it features revolutionary QuickOpen technology. Simply pull the two protruding handles and the pocket opens in an instant! In addition, we don't have to worry about flooding the first aid kit with water, as the contents are protected from the top by a sleeve made of waterproof laminate.
The interior of the first aid kit has been completely redesigned. In the fourth generation, both walls have been completely upholstered in velour. In addition, on one side there are six straps made of double-sided Velcro, allowing the user to organise the interior according to personal preference: thanks to their properties, they can serve as a loop for carrying a marker or needle, as well as a compartment holding both flat dressings (e.g. for burns or haemostatic dressings) and larger individual dressings. What's more, if the user prefers to paste their own rubber organiser into this space or throw in equipment 'loosely', they have that option too! This is because the Velcro strips will stick to the velour wall. The opposite wall is fitted with the wide rubber known from previous generations. However, a modern system has been used here in which the rubber adapts to the contents to be carried, making it possible to carry items of various sizes.
